NDC Coach Tim Koenig summed up the loss:

Near Perfect Second Half Lifts NDC Past WVSU.

The Notre Dame College  Falcons used a hot shooting night and a 30 rebound advantage to lift them to a 90-75 win at Murphy Gym on Wednesday night. With the win NDC improves to 15-6 overall and 9-6 in the MEC. The loss dropped West Virginia State to 6-15 overall and 3-12 in the MEC.
NDC was paced by Drew Scarberry who buried eight 3-pointer's and scored a career high 31 points in this one.
On how big the basket looked to him tonight:
"It was just one of those nights. Everything felt good when it left my hand. It helps when you have guys like Jay Banaysz setting screens like crazy, not to mention how hot Will and KT get when they are knocking down shots." Scarberry said.
Kyauta Taylor added 24 points of his own- while Will Vorhees had yet another double-double (17 points and 13 rebounds.) Vorhees scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half.
Ja'Sean Lewis just missed a triple-double (10 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds.)  He spoke to me about the other parts of his game besides his shot:
"I knew my shots were not falling tonight. So I had to work that much harder on the other parts of my game. Rebounding and the little things is something I have always taken pride in.
On the team still playing a little short handed:
" I trust everyone of my teammates to do what needs to be done at every point of the game. This is a great group of guys. We use playing short- handed as a way of playing with a chip on our shoulder." Lewis said.
Banyasz spoke to me about his new role with the injury to Kobie Johnson:
" The more I play the more comfortable I get with this team. It is a easy group to play with when everything is clicking on all cylinders. It is not when you play as a team but how you play as a team." Banyasz said.
The Falcons shot 50 percent as a team in the game. They went 14-30 (47 percent) from the 3-point line.  NDC did not fare well at the free throw line where they shot 43 percent (6-14.)  NDC crushed the Yellow Jackets on the boards 55-25. They had 25 assists and 16 turnovers.
The Yellow Jackets were led by 22 points from Ernest Jenkins- while Terrance Jenkins added 10- and- Tyrie Elliott scored nine. The Jackets shot 40 percent as a team- 33 percent (11-33) from the 3-point line- and 80 percent (16-20) from the free throw line.  They had 15 assists and seven turnovers.
It was a tough start for NDC as the Yellow Jackets would take a 10 point lead (13-3) after the first media timeout.  Scarberry would come in off the bench and immediately hit a pair of 3-pointer's to cut the lead to one (13-12) at the 12:56 mark. NDC would knot the game at 16 and take the lead 18-16 after a Taylor bucket at the 10:36 mark of the opening half. The rest of the half would see nine lead changes and neither team led by more than three. After a Jackets bucket they would take a 34-32 halftime lead.
The second half would start and the Falcons would again knot the game this time at 37, before a 11-4 NDC run would give them a seven point lead (48-41) at the 15:39 mark.
