Falcons Score First Win.

The Notre Dame Falcons (1-3 1-0 MEC)  got a big road victory, as they knocked off Concord 92-82 in the Mountain East opener for both teams. The Falcons who were picked to finish 12th in the 13 team league preseason knocked off Concord who was picked to finish fourth in the poll.
  The Falcons raced out to a 9-2 lead early before Concord scored the game's next five points. The Falcons scored 12 of the game's next 18 points and took a nine point lead (22-13) on a Lawrence DeArmond conventional three point play. The Mountain Lions would then make a run of their own and cut the Falcons lead to one (24-23) on a Terry Hopewell layup at the 9:16 mark of the opening half. The next nine plus minutes would be played fairly evenly and the Falcons would take a 43-40 lead into the locker room.
  The first five plus minutes of the second half would see both teams go cold from the floor and the Mountain Lions would hold a 52-50 lead. After a 3-pointer made the Mountain Lions lead (55-50) the Falcons would run off the next nine points and after a conventional three point play by Tyree Gaiter the Falcons would lead 59-55 at the 11:23 mark. The Falcons would not trail the rest of the way and would cruise to the 10 point win.
  The Falcons had four players tally double figures on the day. Jarvis Huntley poured in a game high 31 points to lead the way. Tyree Gaiter notched 22 points and tallied eight assists. Lawrence DeArmond netted 15, and Kaloma Figueroa-Jackson chipped in 14. The Falcons shot 35-69 (50.7 percent) on the day. They connected on 40 percent (8-20) from the 3-point line. NDC struggled at the foul line, hitting just 61 percent (14-23). They had 16 assists and just eight turnovers.
 The Mountain Lions (2-2 0-1 MEC) were led by four players in double figures as well. A.J. Williams led Concord with 19 points, while Terry Hopewell just missed a double-double (16 points and nine rebounds.) Mike Boyd added 12 along with eight assists,  and Ali Barnes had 11.  The Mountain Lions shot 42.2 percent (27-64 from the field.) They went six of 13 from the 3-point line. The Mountain Lions shot 73 percent (22-30) at the foul line. They out rebounded NDC 41-40. The Mountain Lions had 16 assists and 11 turnovers.
  NDC will be back in action on Monday when they take on Virginia Wise. Tip time is Wise,VA is set for 7:30 PM.
