Falcons Suffer Rare Home Loss.
The Notre Dame Falcons suffered a rare home loss, as they went down for just the second time in this calendar year. The Falcons were a 79-72 loser at the hands of the Cedarville Yellow Jackets.
NDC fell to 10-14 on the season. Eric Dummermuth led four Falcons in double figures with 19 points and nine rebounds. Tyree Gaiter added 18, Jarvis Huntley netted 13, and Lawrence DeArmond posted 12 for the Falcons. The Falcons had a hard time shooting the ball on Saturday. They shot 37 percent from the field and hit just 25 percent of their 3-point attempts. The Falcons did knock down 92 percent (23-25) from the foul line. The Falcons won the rebounding battle 37-32. The Falcons had just nine assists on 22 made field goals and 13 turnovers.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 18-8 on the season and gained a split with the Falcons on the season. Three Cedarville players scored in double figures on the day. Zimmy Nowogbo paced the Yellow Jackets with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Jason Cuffee chipped in 16 points, and Marcus Reineke posted a 14 point day. The Yellow Jackets shot 52.7 percent on the day. They were 9-19 (47 percent) from the 3-point line. The Yellow Jackets struggled at the foul line, where they went 12-20 (60 percent.) The Yellow Jackets had 13 assists and turned the ball over 14 times.
The Falcons will be back in action Wednesday. They will hit the road and take on Ohio Dominican. Tip time in Columbus is set for 7:30 PM.
