Z and Lebron Break Records, Cavs Win Ninth Straight!

Lebron James passed Mark Price as the Cavs "all-time" steals leader, Zydrunas Ilgauskas passed Brad Daughtery as the franchise rebounding leader, and the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled to a 114-94 win over the Toronto Raptors at Quicken Loans Arena.

Lebron was one of three Cavaliers in double figures on Tuesday night.  He poured in 31 points, while Wally Sczerbiak chipped in 16 ,and Maurice Williams had 13 for the wine and gold (18-3).  The Cavaliers remained undefeated (12-0) at home this season by shooting 49% from the field, and hitting 20 of 23 free throws, as well as 8-22 from long range.  Lebron did not play the fourth quarter for the sixth time in the past eight games due to the way Cleveland has been destroying opponents.
The Raptors (8-12) also had  three players in double figures.  Joey Graham led the way with 17, while they got 14 from Jose Calderon and 10 from Roko Ukic.  The Raptors shot 45% from the floor, but allowed way too many dunks and layups.    Toronto hit 6 of 17 from distance and was 24 of 32 at the charity stripe.  The Cavs will be back in action Wednesday night as they will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Sixers.  Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.

Wolf's Return Sparks Tars Past 17th Ranked Southern!

Nick Wolf came off the bench to spark a 16-3 Rollins run  after the Tars opened Saturday afternoon trailing Florida Southern 6-0 in the Tars' 85-72 win, which was the conference opener for both teams.

Rollins (4-2) placed five players in double figures.  The sophomore tandem of Jeremy Sharpe and Nick Wolf had 19, and 16 points respectively.  Wolf added 8 rebounds while Sharpe notched six assists.  Zach Pancratz had 11, Kevin Hogan netted 10 and Julian Wilkison had a career high 9  as the Tars sent the Mocs to their third straight defeat.   The Tars shot 30-56 (54%) and hit 6 0f 18 three pointers.  Rollins was 19 of 29 at the charity stripe.
Florida Southern (6-4) was led by Zach Smith with 15 points, John Thompson scored 13, while Braxton Williams and Brandon Jenkins had 10 "apiece".  The Tars' stifling zone defense held the Moccasins to 28-62 (36%) shooting and just 6 of 34 (18%) from three point land.  Notably, the Tars held last year's Rollins killer and Freshman of the Year Rion Rayfield to just 3 points on 1 of 12 shooting, including 1 of 11 from three.  The Mocs dominated the glass out rebounding Rollins 48-32.  The Tars will take this week off for finals, and will be back in action Monday when they face Southeastern University.  You can catch the action on the Citizen Bank of Tars Sports network at WWW.RollinsSports.TV and on WPRK 91.5 FM Winter Park.

Pancratz Big Night Not Enough For Tars!

Zach Pancratz did everything he could to send the Rollins College Tars back to Winter Park with a victory on Wednesday night, but it wasn't quite enough. Pancratz, who tallied 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists ,hit a three pointer  with one second left to send the game into overtime, but the Tars would be outscored 15-11 by  Palm Beach Atlantic in the extra frame.

It was a see- saw game throughout as neither team would take more than a seven  point lead in the first half. The Tars would go on a mini -run at the end of the half to cut the PBA lead to 35-32 at the halftime buzzer.  The two teams would trade buckets early in the second half before a Kevin Hogan three would tie the game at 37 with 18:17 in the ball- game.  It would go back and forth for several minutes before the final outcome was decided.  The game would feature seventeen ties in all. Ross Hunter would hit a jumper to give the Sailfish a brief 64-62 lead with a 1:04 remaining. The Tars would tie it on a pair of Kevin Hogan free throws with 40 seconds to go, but would not be able to connect on the third after being fouled on a three point attempt.  Ross Hunter would grab the rebound and David Powell would hit a three  with fifteen seconds to go. Craig Reichel's trey with 6 seconds to go would miss but Jeremy Sharpe would rebound and kick out to Pancratz for the game tying three.
The Sailfish would go on a 5-0 to start the OT , but the scrappy Tars would once again answer. Hogan and Sharpe would hit back- to back three's to give Rollins a 73-72 lead with a 1:17 left.  The Sail Fish would ride Powell the rest of the way to the 82-78 victory.
Palm Beach Atlantic (5-4) had three players in double figures,  led by David Powell, who led all scorers with 24 points.  Ross Hunter had 15 points along with 8 boards, and Manny Lopez rounded out the PBA double digit scorers with 11.  The Sailfish shot 44 percent from the field and hit 10 of 23 from long range, including 5-10 by Powell.  They were 24-35 at the charity stripe.
Rollins (3-2) netted four players in double numbers.  Pancratz led the way with 20, while Kevin Hogan netted 15, Jeremy Sharpe tallied a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Craig Reichel concluded the Tars double digit scorers with 10.  The Tars shot 52% from the field, and hit 10 of 25 from distance. The Tars "though" were a dismal 6 0f 11 at the charity stripe.  Rollins played for the third straight game without all- freshman performer Nick Wolf who continued serving his suspension. The Tars will be back in action Saturday when they open up Sunshine State conference play versus Florida Southern.  The Mocs and Tars will tip at 4 PM from Warden Arena.  You can catch all the action on the Citizen Bank of Tars Sports Network at WWW.RollinsSports.TV or on WPRK 91.5 FM Winter Park.

B-C-Mess Role Reversal!

Stop me if you have heard this one before.  The BCS might be imperfect. For the ump-teenth time the BCS standings have  made a mistake. Or is it the Big 12 conference? Whatever way you slice it, the Texas Longhorns were shafted when the new BCS standings came out on Sunday. But wait, it is not over yet.  The roles have reversed from a year ago, when the top ranked Missouri Tigers fell to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game.  This season the Sooners will face the Tigers with Oklahoma being the one playing for the right to play in the title game. Then, as Texas fans well know, if Oklahoma were to lose that would open the door for the Longhorns to play in the BCS title game. The Longhorns, despite their 45-35 win over Oklahoma on a neutral field, were jumped by the Sooners after Oklahoma's 61-41 win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater Saturday.

This scenario that is unfolding Oklahoma knows all too well. Jason White and the Sooners ended up playing in the title game despite not playing in the Big 12 championship game in 2005. The Sooners went out that year and lost to USC in the title game. Longhorns fans can only wonder what will happen if one of the top two teams loses  Saturday. Will they get their chance to play for the title? Only time will tell. One thing is for certain, the Longhorns will not play in the Big 12 title game Saturday.  Whether that is a good thing or bad we can only wait and see.
