Falcons Fall To Cardinals.

The Notre Dame College  Falcons fell at Wheeling Jesuit 84-69 on Thursday night at McDonough Center.  The loss was the second straight for the Falcons and they have now dropped five of the past six.  NDC is now 16-11 overall and 10-11 in the MEC.  Wheeling improved to 21-6 overall and 15-6 in the MEC by completing the season sweep of the Falcons.
  NDC tallied four players in double figures in the defeat.  Will Vorhees paced the Falcons with 23 points and six rebounds- Kobie Johnson added 13- Kyauta Taylor scored all 12 of his points in the first half- while Drew Scarberry netted 11.
  NDC shot 45 percent as a team and 32 percent (10-31) from the 3-point line.  They only got to the free throw line nine times, making seven (78 percent.)  They had 12 assists and 19 turnovers.
  Wheeling was paced by Haywood Highsmith with 20 points and 15 rebounds- Preston Boswell added 18- while Jarin Hillson scored 15- Dominique Tham rounded out the double digit scorers with 11.
  The Cardinals shot 48 percent as a team- 41 percent (9-22) from the 3-point line- and shot 65 percent (15-24) from the free throw line.  The Cardinals won the rebounding battle 36-33.  They had 16 assists and 10 turnovers.
  The game began with Wheeling connecting on the first five shots they attempted and taking a 10-4 lead 2:20 in.  NDC would score five of the next seven points and knot the game at 11 on a Ja'Sean Lewis slam at the 15:01 mark of the opening half.  NDC would take a 3-point lead after a Scarberry 3-pointer on the next possession.  The game would stay tight for the next couple minutes and NDC would be down two (22-20) after Johnson scored at the 9:26 mark.  The Cardinals would then go on a 11-0 spurt to take a 13 point lead (33-20.)  NDC would get to within eight after a pair of Vorhees free throws at the 1:31 mark of the half, but they would trail by 11 (47-36) at the half.
  NDC would get off to a good start in the second half and get to within three (55-52) after a Scarberry 3-pointer with 13:42 remaining.  The Cardinals would stretch the lead back out to 15 (71-56) after a Highsmith jumper at the nine minute mark.  The Cardinals would roll the rest of the way from there.
  NDC will close out the regular season Saturday at Murphy Gym when they welcome the Urbana Blue Knights, tip time is set for 4 PM.  You can catch the action on NotreDameFalcons.com
