Tars Secure Workmanlike Win Over Lions.

The Rollins College Tars led by a 19 point performance by Myk Brown took care of the St.Leo Lions 73-60 at Warden Arena on Saturday afternoon. Brown drained 5 treys and was one of 4 Tars in double figures on the day. Julian Wilkison made 7 of 9 from the floor and had his personal career high with 16 points. Nick Wolf recorded another double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Wolf did not have his best shooting day, as he was only 6 of 16 from the floor. Nikola Baran rounded out the Tars double digit scorers with 10. With the win the Tars improved to 14-3 (6-1 SSC).

Saint Leo had three players of their own in double figures. Josue Vazquez led the way for the Lions with 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting. Jordan Prais had 14 points to go along with 5 rebounds. This was proof that the Tars did a very good job on the glass. Prais usually the top rebounder for Leo only having 5 was huge. Jordan was just 4 of 12 from the floor. Dominick Robinson rounded out the Leo double digit scorers with 11. With the loss the Lions dropped to 8-11 (2-6 SSC).
The Tars would come out of the gate quickly and score the game's first four points. The Lions would then outscore Rollins 13-5 in the next 7 minutes to take a 13-9 lead with 10:58 in the half. The Tars would then score the next seven points and after a pair of Myk Brown free throws would take a 16-13 lead with 7:21 in the half. The Tars would then stretch that lead out, after a jumper by Nick Wolf right before the half the Tars would take a 34-24 lead into the locker room. The first five minutes of the second half would be evenly played and after a trey by Myk Brown the Tars would have a 51-37 lead with 14:34 to go. Nick Wolf would make a layup on the ensuing possession to stretch the Rollins lead to 16. The Tars would take their largest lead of the game with 4:13 to go as a Brock Blanchard triple would make it 67-50. The Tars would sail in the last four minutes to a 73-60 win. The Tars dominated the stat sheet on the day. They would outshoot the Lions 53% to 37%. From three point land the Tars were 9 of 27 (33%) while the Lions were 4-21 (19%). Each team was 80% at the line. Saint Leo was 16 of 20 from the charity stripe, while the Tars were 8 of 10. Rollins won the rebounding battle 32-27. The Tars had 5 turnovers that cost them 7 points. The Lions had 6 turnovers that cost them 8 points. The Tars will be back in action Wednesday night when they head to St.Pete to face the Eckerd Tritons. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.
