Falcons Top Shawnee State!!

The Notre Dame Falcons stayed perfect in the America East with a 73-61 win over Shawnee State. Notre Dame 12-5 (4-0 AMC) continued their winning ways against the Bears 6-12 (3-2 AMC). Eric Dummermuth led the Falcons with another double-double. The Sophomore from Dover,OH tallied his 4th straight double double. All four being Falcons wins. The Bears struggled from the floor in the first half shooting just 37 percent.

NDC jumped out to a 5-0 early lead as the Bears did not score for the first four and a half minutes. It would be 23-8 NDC half way through the first half. The Bears would counter with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 23-16 with 7:25 in the half. The last 7:25 of the half would not be pretty for the Falcons. They would go just 8 of 17 from the charity stripe in the first stanza and would limp into the locker room with a 3 point lead at 34-31. Shawnee State would cut the lead to one at 38-37 at 17:30 mark. Nick McCartney would get a pair of steals and transition lay ups to stretch the lead back out to 5 (42-37) for the "blue and white". The Falcons would then break the game open with a 20-9 run punctuated by a Dummermuth three with 5:17 on the clock. A pair of threes by the Bears would cut the lead to ten but that's as close as they would get the rest of the way. The Falcons sealed the win by going 15 of 16 (94 percent) from the charity stripe in the second half. Al Miller had 16 points while Nick McCartney would have 10 for NDC. McCartney would add 5 steals. Keelyn Franklin and Ian Nixson would have 16 points to lead the Bears. Notre Dame will carry their four game win streak to New york for a 4 PM tip against Point Park on Saturday. Tip time is set for 4 PM.
