Wolf, Tars Roll Past Florida Tech!!

The reigning sunshine state conference player of the week had 28 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Rollins College Tars to a 79-61 win over the Florida Tech Panthers in Melbourne, Florida Wednesday night. The Tars (13-3 5-1 SSC) stayed in first place in the conference with the win. Three other Tars besides Wolf tallied double digits Wednesday. Julian Wilkison nailed three treys to give him 13 points, Mat Robertson chipped in 12 and Nikola Baran netted 10 for Rollins. Florida Tech 10-7 (0-6 SSC) had two players tally double-doubles on the night. Justin Sedlak scored 19 points and pulled down 10 boards while Alvin Tucker also posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Tars out shot FIT 62 percent to 36 percent. The Tars went 16 of 24 (67 percent) from the floor in the second half. The Panthers won the battle of the boards 40-25 including halling down 20 on the offensive glass.

The game started with a back and forth affair. A trifecta by Simon Cummings would give the Panthers an 11-8 lead four minutes in. The Tars would then go on a big run and after back to back layups by Brock Blanchard would lead 27-16 with six minutes in the half. Justin Sedlak would hit a jumper to get the Panthers within single digits but the Tars would answer and lead 40-22 after a transition dunk by Ian Scott to end the half. The Tars would open the second half on a 13-2 run and open up a 29 point lead at 53-24 on three old fashioned three point plays. The Panthers would get as close as 15 on two separate occasions but Wilkison would run off seven straight points to seal it for the Tars. The Tars will be back home Saturday, with a 4 PM tip at the Alfond Sports Center. The Tars will welcome the Lions of Saint Leo to Warden Arena.
