Falcons Too Much For Harriers!
The Notre Dame College Falcons (1-0) opened their 2009 campaign with a 105-49 drubbing of the Miami Hamilton Harriers (0-4) at the Murphy gymnasium. The 'blue and white" were led by Eric Dummermuth (26 pts, 9 rebounds) and Curtis McClure (20 pts). The Falcons shot a sizzling 53 percent from the field including 11 of 25 from three point territory. The Falcons were 10 0f 15 (67%) at the charity stripe.
Miami Hamilton (0-4) tallied three players in double figures. Brook Johnson (13 pts.), Nate Seymour (12), and Blake Johnson (10) accounted for 35 of the 49 points for the Harriers.
The Falcons were ready from the opening tip as Dummermuth would get an easy lay up on a tip from Karim McFarlane to begin the game. A three pointer by Alex Schlake would give the Harriers a early 3-2 lead. Curtis McLure would give Notre Dame a 4-3 lead before a Joey O'Neal hoop would make it 5-4 in the early going. The Falcons would then go on a 11-0 run capped by a McLure bucket to take a 15-5 lead. Hamilton would keep it close at 22-13 after a Schlake hoop with 8:38 to play in the first half. Another 7-0 run would make it a 16 point game before a traditional three point play by Blake Johnson would cut the lead to 29-16. The Falcons would go on a 18-0 run to take a commanding 49-18 lead. It would be a 32 point bulge at the intermission. The Falcons would cruise in the second half. Only two members of the "blue and white" Karim McFarlane and Danny Wright would not score. The Falcons used their size advantage to crush the Harriers on the boards 53-28. Hamilton shot 36 percent from the field, 28 percent from beyond the arc and was an atrocious 5 of 17 from the foul line. The Falcons will be back in action against Rochester (Mich) Saturday. Tip time is set for 4 PM.
