Falcons Roll Past Storm.
The Notre Dame Falcons hit the road and made the short trip to take on Lake Erie College on Monday evening. The Falcons picked up a 84-73 road win that was really not as close as the score would indicate. With the victory NDC improved to 4-2 on the season. The loss was the seventh straight for the Storm to begin the season.
Will Vorhees had a monster game to lift NDC- Vorhees had game highs in both points (33) and rebounds (20) in this one. Kyauta Taylor netted 25 of his own- while Ja'Sean Lewis picked up another double-double (12 points and 13 rebounds.) NDC shot 42 percent from the field in the victory. From the 3-point line they shot at a 35 percent clip (7-20-) while they struggled at the free throw line, going 21-37 (57 percent.) NDC had 18 assists and 11 turnovers.
Lake Erie was led by Mitch Loomis who tallied 20 points on the evening- Loomis just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Ennis Thomas also scored in double figures with 12- while Gabe Kynard chipped in 10 points. The Storm struggled shooting the ball in the contest. They would only shoot 34 percent on the evening- from the 3-point line they shot just 19 percent (6-31.) They were a solid 71 percent (15-21) at the free throw line. The Storm edged NDC on the boards 51-50. They had 16 assists and 13 turnovers.
The Falcons never trailed in this one. Kyauta Taylor drilled a 3-pointer to open the scoring and set the tone. They would run out to a 10 point lead (18-8) in the early going and would lead by 20 (44-24) at the intermission.
The second half would be all Falcons as well. They would extend the lead to 27 (54-27) at the 17:10 mark after a Drew Scarberry 3-pointer. The lead would be 19 (68-49) with 8:02 to go after a pair of Vorhees free throws. The Storm would chip away and make the score look respectable late.
NDC will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to play an exhibition game at Bowling Green. Tip time is set for 7 PM.
