NDC Hits Road For Key MEC Clash Thursday.
The Notre Dame College Falcons will hit the road Thursday and battle the Rams of Shepherd in a key MEC clash at Butcher Center. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM. You can catch the game on NotreDameFalcons.com
NDC (15-7 9-7 MEC) comes into Thursday's action off of a tough 71-61 loss to Charleston on Saturday. The Falcons are led by Will Vorhees- the Columbus Grove product is averaging 26.4 points and 10.6 rebounds a night. Vorhees is coming off his toughest night of the season as he was held to 11 points and six rebounds Saturday. Kyauta Taylor averages 21.5 points a night and has a team leading 33 steals- while Drew Scarberry has come on strong of late and is averaging 9.9 points a game. Scarberry is shooting 48.4 percent from the 3-point line on the season. Ja'Sean Lewis continues to stuff the stat sheet, as he averages 8.7 points- 10.1 rebounds- and- 5.5 assists a contest.
The Falcons coming off a season low 61 points Saturday average 83.7 points a game- while they give up 81.8 points a night. They are also getting 4.7 more rebounds a night (41.8 to 37.1) than the opponent. The Falcons come into Thursday 7-3 on the road this season- including 5-3 in MEC road games.
Shepherd (13-9 10-6 MEC) comes into Thursday having lost two in a row. The last time was a 86-66 loss to Wheeling Jesuit. Three Rams scored in double figures in the defeat led by 17 points from Naim Muhammed. AJ Carr and Steffen Davis had 11 points each in the loss.
The Rams are paced by Davis who averages 16.5 points per game- Carr puts up 15.4 a night and leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 rebounds a contest- Skyler Roman scores 11.9 a night and dishes out 3.5 assists a game- while- Muhammed averages 10.9 points- grabs 5.8 rebounds and dishes out 4.7 assists a night. They come into the game averaging 77 points per game- while they give up 73.5 a night. The Rams are 6-5 at home this season- including 5-3 in the MEC.
The Rams were a 78-77 winner at Murphy Gym in the first meeting between the two teams. Muhammed led five Rams in double figures with 19 in that one- while Davis (15-) Carr (14-) Roman (12-) and- Winston Burgess (10) all scored in double figures as well. Davis had a tip in with .7 seconds that proved to be the game winner.
Vorhees scored a season high 44 in the first meeting- while Taylor added 23 of his own.
