Falcons Knock Off Urbana.

The Notre Dame Falcons (6-10 4-6 MEC) got all they could handle before knocking off Urbana (0-15 0-11 MEC)  84-81 at Murphy Gym Thursday.  Urbana fell after holding the lead in the second half for the ninth time this year.
  All five NDC starters scored in double figures in the win. Jarvis Huntley and Lawrence DeArmond led the way with 24 and 23 points respectively.  Geovante Rose tallied a double-double (14 points and 10 rebounds.)  Kaloma Figueroa Jackson (13 points) and Tyree Gaiter (10 points)  round out the Falcons starters in double figures. The Falcons shot 56 percent (31-55) from the field in the game.  NDC shot 43 percent (9-21) from the 3-point line.  The Falcons struggled at the foul line where they shot 59 percent (13-22.) NDC had 13 assists and 12 turnovers.
  The Blue Knights placed four players in double figures, but could not crack the win column.  Danny Goins led the way with 21 points- Mike Dorceus (14 points)- NieRonn Miles added 13- and- Mike Newton had 10. Urbana shot 48 percent ((28-59) from the field- they were also solid from the 3-point line where they shot 47 percent (9-19.) The Blue Knights were very good at the foul line where they shot 84 percent (16-19.)  Urbana won the rebounding battle 30-29.  The Blue Knights had six assists and 13 turnovers.
  NDC would get off to a six point lead (18-12) in the early going.  The Blue Knights would battle back and the lead would change hands a handful of times in the first 10 minutes.  10 lead changes occured in the opening half and the Blue Knights led by two (33-31) at the half.
  The second half saw NDC shoot 68 percent.  The beginning stages of the second half saw Urbana stretch the lead to five (42-37.) The Falcons would counter with a 10-0 spurt and lead 47-42.  The Falcons would lead by nine (56-47) after another mini spurt.  A Huntley 3-pointer would account for that score at the 13:39 mark.  The Falcons lead would lead by 13 (62-49) before the Blue Knights would make another run.  The Blue Knights would get to within three before the Falcons put the game away late.
  NDC will be back in action Saturday when they head to Wheeling, West Va. to take on Wheeling Jesuit.  The Falcons lost 85-73 to Wheeling Jesuit in the first meeting.  Tip time Saturday is set for 4 PM.
