Bobcats Knock Off Falcons.

The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats improved to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the Mountain East Conference with a 90-80 win over the Notre Dame College Falcons at Murphy Gym on Thursday night. With the loss, the Falcons fell to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain East.
  The Bobcats had four players score in double figures on the night. T.J Thompson poured in a game high 27 points to lead the way.  Brett Ervin added 23 for the Bobcats, Alexsander Djordjevic netted 20-and Tanner McGrew had 16 points to go along with 15 rebounds.  The Bobcats shot 58 percent from the field (34-59,) and made good on 39 percent (9-23) from the 3-point line.  Wesleyan struggled at the foul line, where they shot 62 percent (13-21.)  The Bobcats dominated the glass, out rebounding NDC 41-27.  The Bobcats had 15 assists and only turned the ball over seven times.
  For the Falcons, they also had four players score in double figures. Tyree Gaiter had a team high 27 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.  Lawrence DeArmond scored 18- Geovante Rose netted 13- and Kaloma Figueroa-Jackson chipped in 11.  The Falcons shot 42 percent (25-59) from the field.  They shot 32 percent (6-19) from the 3-point line.  The Falcons shot 73 percent (24-33) from the foul line.  The Falcons had just nine assists- and turned the ball over only five times.
  T.J Thompson came out with the hot hand in the early going.  Thompson scored 13 points in the first five minutes and Wesleyan was hold a 18-8 lead five minutes in.  The Bobcats would stretch that lead to 13 (23-10) on another Thompson three at the 12:42 mark. The Falcons would then respond with a 10-2 run of their own.  Lawrence DeArmond would complete a conventional three-point play to cut the lead to five (25-20) halfway thru the opening half.  The Falcons and Bobcats would both shoot the ball well for much of the first half and Wesleyan lead 44-39 at the break.
  The Falcons would get off to a good start in the second half and got to within two multiple times. The Falcons would tie the game at 59 on a pair of Gaiter free throws with 13:51 left to go.  The Bobcats would score the next six points and never look back. They would go to the 90-80 win. It was the first loss in nearly a month at home for NDC.
  The Falcons will head to West Virginia on take on West Virginia State on Saturday. Tip time is set for 4 PM.
