It was the Marauders who got off to the hot start in this one. They made 10 of the first 11 shots they attempted and jumped out to a 29-15 lead with 12:37 in the opening half after a Phillip Gates 3-pointer. The Falcons would then go on a 16-0 spurt themselves and take a 31-29 lead on a pair of DeArmond free throws. The Falcons would lead by as many as six in the opening half, but it would be tied at 42 at the half.
The second half would be more of the same. The Falcons would lead by as many as six, but the Marauders would fight back and lead 68-66 with nine minutes to go. The next six minutes play would be played evenly until the Falcons would built a four point lead (80-76) with 2:16 to go. A Gaites three would cut the Falcon lead to one (80-79.) Kaloma Figueroa-Jackson would stretch the Falcon lead to three on a pair of free throws at the 1:08 mark. Tyree Gaiter would miss a pair of free throws to give the Marauders new life. Isom-Jones nailed a 3-ball to tie it with 17 seconds to go.
The Falcons would score the first four points of overtime but it would not be enough. Isom-Jones would then have a five point run of his own (old fashioned three point play and two free throws) that would give the Marauders the lead with 2:21 left in the extra session. The Marauders would then get a transition hoop and go on to the victory.
NDC will be back in action Friday night when they welcome West Virginia-Parkersburg to Murphy Gym. Tip time is set for 6 PM.
