Falcons Fall Short Again.
The Notre Dame Falcons made it interesting on Saturday, but ultimately fell 87-85 to Trevecca Nazarene in overtime. The loss was the sixth straight for NDC and dropped them to 2-9 on the year. The Falcons remained winless away from Murphy Gym despite four players scoring in double figures Saturday. Tyree Gaiter led the Falcons with 21 points to go along with seven assists, Lawrence DeArmond tallied 16, Raphi Tekie had 13, and Jarvis Huntley chipped in 12. The Falcons shot 48 percent from the floor and made 40 percent (12-30) from the 3-point line. NDC did not get to the foul line often and struggled when they got there hitting 5 of 9 (56 percent). The Falcons won the rebounding battle 38-35. NDC had 16 assists and 15 turnovers.
Trevecca Nazarene improved to 4-10 on the season by winning for the second time in three tries. The Trojans were led by three players who scored in double figures. J.P Nyadaro poured in a game high 32 points in the win. He added 14 rebounds to complete the double-double. Marquise Rudolph netted 16, and Maliek Daniels also posted a double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds). The Trojans shot 56 percent from the field and 25 percent (3-12) from the 3-point line. They shot 61 percent (14-23) at the foul line. The Trojans had 15 assists and 13 turnovers.
The Falcons will be back in action Wednesday when they battle Salem International at Murphy Gym. Tip time is set for 7 PM.
