Big Second Half Leads Storm Past Falcons.
The Lake Erie Storm (2-0) scored 90+ points for the second straight game as they used a big second half to knock off the Notre Dame Falcons (1-2) 92-80 at Murphy Gym on Tuesday night.
After having a four point lead (41-37) at the half, the Falcons saw the Storm put up 65 points in the second half. The Falcons had three players score in double figures on the evening. Eric Dummermuth paced the Falcons with 23 points, Lawrence DeArmond added 17, and Tyree Gaiter had 13 for NDC. The Falcons shot 51 percent from the field but were just three of 16 (18 percent) from the 3-point line. The Falcons shot 75 percent at the foul line.
The Storm had a pair of players score 20 points. Rich Austin had 20 points, along with Jamil Dudley. Tom Parker had 19, while Riley Thomas added 11. The Storm shot 56 percent from the floor. They shot seven of 12 from the 3-point line. The Storm were 17-21 at the foul line and won the rebounding battle 32-30.
It was the Falcons who jumped out to the early 10-3 lead, only to see the Storm answer and take a 13-12 advantage with 13:52 left in the half. The game went back and forth for the next several minutes and it was knotted at 20 with seven minutes in the opening half. The Falcons would lead 31-27 at the half after scoring 11 of the final 18 points in the stanza.
Both teams shot extremely well in the second half as the game went back and forth. It was the Storm who would take control in the second half though.
NDC will back in action November 26th when they travel to Findlay to battle with the Oilers. Tip time is set for 7:30.
