Falcons Toppled by St Edward's.

The Notre Dame Falcons (4-7) fell 68-66 to the Hilltoppers of St.Edward's (Texas) University on Saturday night. The Falcons had a chance to win it but a 3-pointer by Taylor Reiger did not go as time expired.

The loss was the third in a row for the Falcons. The Hilltoppers improved to 8-4 with the win. Four Falcons scored in double figures in this one. Marcquice Taylor and Brennan Osborne led the Falcons with 16 points each. Phil Biggs tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Troy Baugh netted 10. The Falcons shot 44 percent for the game but went just 6-24 from the 3-point line. Once again NDC hurt themselves at the foul line going 4-9 (44 percent). The Falcons had 18 assists and just five turnovers.
St.Ed's had three players score in double figures in the win. Shimeek Johnson led the way with 16 points, Remy Boswell had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, Tyler Foster netted 12 for the Hilltoppers. St.Ed's shot 41 percent from the field and was 11-31 (36 percent) from the 3-point line. They struggled at the foul line shooting 64 percent (9-14). The Hilltoppers won the battle of the boards 42-36, had 15 assissts and 8 turnovers.
The first half started with NDC playing close to even with the Hilltoppers in the early going. Then St.Ed's would run off a 19-4 run to take a 28-12 lead just over half way through the opening half. The Toppers would lead 44-31 at the half. After falling behind by 15, the Falcons would go on a spurt of their own to cut the lead to three with 13:52 to go. St.Ed's would counter and stretch the lead back to 13 at 66-53 with 6:26 left. The Toppers would not score another field goal the rest of the way and NDC would have a chance at the end. Phil Biggs would rebound a missed free throw with 11 seconds to go but the Falcons would fall two points short after the Reiger missed three.
NDC will look to get back on the winning track when they will face Salem (WV) International Saturday at 4 PM.
