Terriers Topple Falcons.

Hiram (2-0) and a key loss were too much to overcome for NDC in a 84-73 loss to the Terriers at Price Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons played much of the game without leading returning scorer Eric Dummermuth, who was limited to just eight minutes of action.

The Falcons (1-2) were led by four players in double figures. Phil Biggs and Marquice Taylor led NDC with 15 points each. Brennan Osborne had his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Troy Baugh provided a spark off the bench scoring 13 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Hiram had five players score in double figures on the afternoon. Jamaal Watkins led the way with 20 points. Aaron Steffanov added 12 points, Andrew Wiegand had a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Branden Means and Alan Sheppard added 12 and 11 points respectively.
Hiram shot 49 percent from the field while the Falcons shot 41 percent. Hiram shot 36 percent from the 3-point line as opposed to 27 percent from the Falcons. The Terriers were 9-12 from the foul line (75 percent) as opposed to 13-21 (62 percent) for the Falcons. The Terriers took advantage of Dummermuth's absence much of the way to win the battle of the boards 42-37. Both teams took good care of the ball, the Falcons had just five turnovers, while the Terriers had nine.
Hiram jumped out to a early 9-2 lead punctuated by a Watkins dunk 4 minutes in. NDC would fight back and tie the game at 19 on a Taylor jumper with 11:09 to go. The two teams would play even basketball for the next 11 minutes until a 3-pointer by Branden Means would spark the Terriers to a 38-37 halftime lead.
The Falcons would score the first five points of the second half to take a four point lead. With 16:34 to go it would be a four point lead for the Falcons on a Taylor Reiger jumper. The Terriers would then go on a 8-0 spurt to make it a 4 point lead of their own. The lead stretched to nine on a pair of occassions. The Falcons would cut it to four a couple times but that is as close as they would get. NDC will be back in action after a 10 day break when they welcome Washington and Jefferson on November 29th. Tip time is set for 7 PM.
