Falcons Fall to Blue Knights.
The Notre Dame Falcons fell to 4-9 with a 78-63 loss to Urbana at Murphy Gym Wednesday. The Falcons saw a 13 point first half lead evaporate for the second time in three games. With the loss Wednesday NDC is 2-3 at home on the season. The loss was the fifth in a row for NDC.
Urbana improved to 4-9 on the season and snapped a three game slide also. After a 29-11 run to close out the first half Urbana led 41-36 going into the locker room.
Notre Dame hit five of the first six three's that they attempted and after a Raphie Tekie 3-ball had a 25-12 lead with 10:42 in the opening half. The Falcons would go 0 for 9 from 3-point land in the final 29:18 of the contest.
Marcquice Taylor had 23 points to lead all scorers on the night. Kaloma Figuero-Jackson added 10 points for the Falcons. Nate Ensz would lead NDC pulling down 10 rebounds. The Falcons shot 42 percent from the field and 5 of 15 (33 percent) from long range. The Falcons struggled in the two areas they have all season, at the free throw line (8-12) and on the boards (41-32).
The Blue Knights had a pair of players score double figures. Shaarif Muahhmed tallied a double-double (22 points and 11 rebounds). Marcus Pearl chipped in 11 for the Blue Knights.
The Falcons will travel to Cedarville to battle the Yellow Jackets Saturday. Tip time is at 4 PM.
