Pair Of Special Teams Scores Doom NDC in Loss to Taylor!

The Notre Dame Falcons played a solid first half, then were thoroughly dominated in the second in a 40-13 loss to Taylor (Ind) at Jim Wheeler Memorial Stadium Saturday Afternoon. The game was dominated by the two teams defenses thru the first 26+ minutes of action. The Trojans would get on the board with a 3 yard TD run by Taylor Johnson that capped a 95 yard Trojan drive. This came on the heels of a 79 yard punt by Kayle Chapman-Brown that pinned the Trojans back to the 5 yard line. The Falcons would answer as James Flowers(Padua HS) making his first career start would hit on a pair of big throws. First Flowers would hook up with Derrick Pastor (Bera HS Berea,OH) on a 49 yarder on 3 down and 18. Then Flowers would hook up with Matt Preston for a 14 yard Falcon TD that would make it 7-6. The ensuing extra point would be botched by NDC and returned by Marcellus Burton to make it 9-6 Trojans. The Trojans would then get a 84 yard kick off return by Trenton Schmale to race into the locker room with a 16-6 lead. The Trojans would just coast from there for the 40-13 win.

NDC would get solid performances from both Pedro Powell and Derrick Paster for the second consecutive week. Paster would catch 8 balls for 124 yards on the afternoon. Pedro Powell added 125 yards on the ground for the blue and white(1-4). The Falcons had 282 yards in total offense including 216 thru the air. Bo Grunder(Massilon HS) led the defense with ten tackles on the afternoon.
Taylor was led by Lebanon, OH native Shaun Addison who was 20 of 32 on the day for 310 yards. The Trojans had 465 yards on the day. Addison threw for 204 yards in the first half. The Lebanon native eclipsed the 4,000 yards passing mark for his career on Saturday. Corey Anderson added a 4 yard TD run for TU. Cameron Parker added a 22 yard field goal and Taylor got a 80 yard INT return from Brandon Onesologu. Addison tossed a 35 yard TD pass to Ryan Magnuson as well. The Falcons will head to Wilberforce,OH next Saturday when they will face the Marauders (1-2) of Central State. The Trojans (2-2) will take on the 4th ranked Cougars of St.Xavier University next week.
