#8 FSU Spoils Senior Day at NDC Saturday.

The Fairmount State Fighting Falcons came into Murphy Gym and spoiled senior day for the Notre Dame Falcons Saturday with a 100-84 win.  The Fighting Falcons improve to 21-3 overall and 15-3 in the MEC by securing the season sweep of NDC. The Falcons meanwhile fell to 16-8 overall and 10-8 in the MEC.
  Jamel Morris led all scorers with his 37 points for the Fighting Falcons, he drained 11 of his 21 3-point attempts on the day.  The only other FSU player in double figures was Caleb Davis who contributed 13- Troy Cantrell added nine in the victory. FSU shot 49 percent on the day (38-78.) They also made 15 of 40 3-pointer's (38 percent.)  FSU did not shoot well from the free throw line, where they shot 60 percent (9-15.)  They won the rebounding battle 43-39.  They had 18 assists and 13 turnovers. The 13 turnovers only cost them 13 points.
  NDC was led by 27 points from Tyree Gaiter- Will Vorhees contributed 17 points and eight rebounds- while Kyauta Taylor, Nathan Vellum, and Najeeb Johnson each posted 11 point days.
  The Falcons shot 48 percent (28-59) for the game- they shot at a 39 percent clip (7-18) from the 3-point line. From the free throw line NDC shot 64 percent (21-33.)  NDC had 18 assists and 19 turnovers. The 19 turnovers cost them 31 points.
  NDC jumped out to an 8-3 lead early but the lead was trimmed to two (12-10.)  After a Gaiter 3-pointer capped a 9-2 run NDC led 21-12 with just under 13 minutes to go in the opening half.  The Fighting Falcons would fight back and get to within two again (31-29) at the 4:16 mark of the half.  The Fighting Falcons would control the final 4:16 and take a 44-38 lead into the locker room.  NDC would score the first four points of the second half to get to within two (44-42) before the Fighting Falcons would run off the next 10 points to lead by 12 (54-42) at the 17:03 mark.  Despite a couple mini runs by NDC the Fighting Falcons would cruise to the victory from there.
  NDC will look to snap a brief two game losing skid when they travel to Virginia Wise on Thursday night. Tip time is set for 730 PM.  The Falcons defeated UVA-Wise 100-83 back on January 12th.  Tyree Gaiter scored 37 points, while Will Vorhees added 25 points and 10 rebounds in the first meeting.
