Tremendous Trio!

On a day when Tyree Gaiter joined the 2,000 point club as a member of the Notre Dame Falcons, NDC led by the trio of Gaiter, Will Vorhees and Kyauta Taylor notched a 91-83 win over the Shepherd Rams Monday.  With the win NDC improved to 11-5 overall and 5-5 in the MEC. After the defeat Shepherd fell to 9-7 overall and 4-6 in the MEC.
The trio combined to score 78 of the 91 points scored by the Falcons on Monday.  Gaiter led the way with 32 points and eight assists.  The Cleveland Heights product eclipsed the 2,000 point plateau with a 3-pointer at the 10:38 mark of the first half which gave the Falcons a 23-18 lead.  Gaiter did not shoot the ball well from the field where he went six of 18 for the game. He did live at the free throw line though, going 18 of 19.   Vorhees was also solid once again, scoring 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting and going 7-8 from the free throw line.   Taylor drilled five of his eight 3-point attempts on his way to a 21 point game.
NDC shot 53 percent (28-53 from the field) in the victory.  They shot a respectable 38 percent (8-21) from the 3-point line.  The Falcons shot 77 percent (27-35) from the free throw line in the contest.  NDC won the rebounding battle 34-28.  They had 13 assists and 14 turnovers as a team.
The Rams got a big day from AJ Carr. Carr scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the defeat.  Ryan McTavish knocked down six 3-pointer's in 11 tries on his way to 22 points.  Stefan Davis rounded out the double digit scorers with 16.
After Gaiter put NDC up by five he would hit another jumper two minutes later to stretch the lead to 10 (28-18.)  The Falcons would also get big first halves from Taylor (16 points) and Vorhees (13.) as they would take as big a lead as 16 points (43-27.)  NDC would lead 47-32 at halftime.
The second half would see Gaiter score 23 of his game high 32 points.  This included going 16-17 from the free throw line in the second half.  NDC shot 48 percent from the field in the half and went 21-24 from the free throw line.  The Falcons would hold off a later Rams surge to preserve the victory.
NDC will be back in action Thursday when they take on Urbana. Tip time at Murphy Gym is set for 730 PM.
