It was UVA Wise that got off to a quick start in this one as they led for much of the beginning stages of the game. A Gaiter layup would give NDC their first lead of the game (18-17) at the 14:26 mark. The Falcons would hold that lead for much of the rest of the first half. They would lead by as many as seven several times over the next 12 minutes. Lewis would nail a pair of free throws to lead by seven (42-35) at the 4:46 mark of the opening stanza. The Cavaliers would then go on a 10-3 run to knot the game at 45 2:30 minutes later. Lashain Matthews would drain a 3-pointer at the 1:39 mark to give the Cavs a 48-45 lead. This would be the last lead they would have in the contest. NDC would score the last six points of the half and take a slight three point lead (51-48) into the half.
The second half would start much the same as the first half ended. NDC would get "red hot" from the floor as the Cavaliers would go "ice cold." After a Vorhees jumper NDC would have a double digit lead (65-54) going into the first media timeout of the second half. The Falcons defense would hold the Cavaliers without a field goal for 10:30 minutes at one point in the second half. NDC would stretch what was a 10 point lead (69-59) at the 11:51 mark to a 28 point lead (89-61) after a Ryan Hickoff bucket with 7:54 to go. The Falcons would coast to the victory from that point.
