Falcons Roll To Win In Pennsylvania.
The Notre Dame Falcons (7-3) traveled to Pennsylvania on Friday night and rolled to a 94-79 victory over the Lincoln Lions. The loss dropped the Lions to 2-7 on the season.
NDC had five players notch double figures in the victory. Tyree Gaiter led the way with 26 points, and just missed a double-double with nine assists. Will Vorhees added 24 to go along with 12 rebounds to collect his double-double. Three other Falcons players notched double figure scoring games in the victory. Marco Colombo had 13-Ja'Sean Lewis had 11- while Kyauta Taylor chipped in 10. NDC shot 53 percent as a team. They also shot the ball very well from the 3-point line (50 percent, 11-22.) NDC was a solid 73 percent (19-26) from the free throw line as well. They also had 18 assists to go along with 19 turnovers.
The Lions were paced by Joshua Davis with 20 points- Quamann Burton added 15- while Umar Saaba chipped in 13 points of his own. Lincoln shot 40 percent as a team- this included 37 percent (7-19) from the 3-point line- as well as 69 percent (20-29) at the free throw line. The Lions edged NDC 38-35 in the rebounding battle. They had 21 assists and 22 turnovers.
The Falcons started strong out of the gate in this one. They would score 48 points in the opening half. After the first 20 minutes, they would hold a nine point lead (48-39.)
The second half would be more of the same as NDC would lead by as many as 18 right out of the locker room A Lewis dunk would spark a 7-0 run that would give them a 14 point lead (57-39.) The lead would be stretched out to as many as 22 (66-44) before the Lions would trim the lead a little bit. NDC would never see the outcome in doubt though as they would roll to the victory.
NDC will head into the holiday break on a positive note. They will not be back in action again until January 4th when they travel to Glenville State. Tip time for that one is set for 7:30 PM.
