Falcons Fall To Hot Shooting Mountain Lions.

The Notre Dame Falcons (10-10 6-8 MEC) lost for the third straight time Saturday, this one a 85-72 loss in Concord, West Virginia.  With the win the Mountain Lions improved to (13-6 9-5 MEC) and won for the sixth time in seven contests.
The Falcons had three players score in double figures in the defeat. Tyree Gaiter paced the Falcons with 24 points-  Lawrence DeArmond and Will Vorhees each scored 16- while DeArmond added 10 rebounds.  DeArmond and Vorhees combined to go just 11-34 from the field.  NDC shot 39 percent from the field in the game.  They shot a solid 45 percent (14-31) from the 3-point line.  The Falcons shot 67 percent (8-12) from the free throw line.
The Mountain Lions also had four players tally double figures.  Aaron Miller poured in a game high 23 points- Terry Hopewell and Rob Reed scored 17 points each- Jametrius Wade rounded out the double figure scorers with 11.  The Mountain Lions shot 43 percent from the field in the win. They were 9-18 (50 percent) from the 3-point line, this included 7-11 (64 percent) from the 3-point line in the second half.  Concord shot 69 percent (24-35) at the free throw line.  The Mountain Lions edged the Falcons on the boards 45-39.
The first half was a low scoring affair for a pair of high powered offenses.  After 14 minutes the game was tied at 18. The Mountain Lions would run off the next seven points and lead by seven (25-18) at the 2:47 mark of the half.  The Falcons would score 11 out of the last 15 points of the half including a pair of Gaiter 3-pointer's, as the game would be knotted at 29 at halftime.
NDC would take a brief lead (32-31) after a DeArmond 3-pointer but the Mountain Lions would drain the next six shots and go on a 11-0 run to take a 10 point lead (42-32.)  After a Vorhees 3-pointer the Mountain Lions would go on another 9-0 spurt to go up 16 (51-35) with 13:38 to play.  That lead would be to much for NDC to overcome and the Mountain Lions would pick up a hard-fought victory.
NDC will be back in action Monday night when they have another road tilt.  This one against Virgina Wise.  A team the Falcons beat 80-65 at Murphy Gym back on November 24th.
