Falcons Roll Past Hiram.
The Notre Dame Falcons (2-3) scored the most points it has in a game since midway thru the 2010-11 season when they put up 109 points Saturday in a 109-72 thrashing of Hiram at Murphy Gym.
The Falcons snapped a three game losing streak with the win. Tyree Gaiter led the way for the Falcons scoring 25 points. Raphi Tekie added 18, Lawrence DeArmond had 17 and Eric Dummermuth netted 16 for NDC. The Falcons nailed 14 3-pointers in the game. They scored 55 points in the first half and 54 in the second.
Hiram (1-2) was led by 15 points from Matt Roman to go along with nine rebounds. Two other Terriers scored in double figures. Aaron Stefanov and Alan Sheppard added 13 points each. The Terriers shot 41.7 percent from the field and hit 11-26 (42.3 percent) from the 3-point line. They had 15 assists and turned the ball over 22 times. The Terriers struggled at the foul shooting at 68.8 percent clip (11-16).
NDC would take an 8-2 lead in the game's first three and a half minutes. The Terriers would cut the lead to two (12-10) a couple minutes later. The Terriers would keep it tight in the opening half but the Falcons never trailed. It would be 55-44 Falcons at the half.
The second half would be all Falcons as they would out score the Terriers 54-28 in the second stanza. It would be a 12-2 run by the Falcons to open the second half that would give them a 21 point lead (67-46). After that the Falcons would cruise to the victory.
NDC will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Lakers of Mercyhurst. Tip time at Murphy Gym is set for 7:30 PM.
