Falcons Road Woes Continue.
The Notre Dame Falcons dropped to 2-7 overall and lost for the seventh straight time away from Murphy Gymnasium dating back to last year. Saturday it was West Virginia Wesleyan who rolled past the Falcons 85-63 in the consolation game of the Porrero Cup in Erie,PA. Wesleyan (5-3) outscored the Falcons 59-33 in the second half.
The Falcons only had two players score in double figures. Eric Dummermuth led the way with 13 points, while Jarvis Huntley chipped in 11. Gevonte Rose added eight. The Falcons shot 40 percent from the field but went just 4 of 17 from the 3-point line. One thing the Falcons did do better than Friday night and much of the young season was shoot free throws. NDC was a respectable 73 percent (11-15) at the foul line. They had 10 assists and turned it over 13 times.
West Virginia Wesleyan had a pair of players have monster nights. Noah Cottrill led the way with 31 points on 10 of 14 shooting and was 8 of 10 at the foul line. Kelsey Williams had 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Williams was 11 of 15 from the floor and 3 of 4 at the line. The Bobcats shot 50 percent from the floor and 48 percent (14-29) from the 3-point line. This included a red hot 10-14 from the 3-point line in the second half. The Bobcats shot 77 percent (13-17) at the foul line. The Bobcats won the rebounding battle 38-30. They had 19 assists and turned the ball over 15 times.
The Falcons will be back in action Wednesday at the Wolstein Center when they take on Cleveland State. Tip time is set for 7 PM.
