Three point barrage buries Falcons.
The Notre Dame Falcons (1-1) fell 80-62 to the Youngstown State Penguins (2-0) at the Beeghly Center on Tuesday night.
The Penguins went 14 of 29 (48 percent) from the three point line in the contest. Four Penguins scored in double figures on the night. Kendrick Perry paced YSU with 18 points including three 3 pointers. Ashen Ward added 17 including five three's. Blake Allen netted 14, while Damian Eargle scored 12. The Penguins shot 40 percent from the field to go along with the 48 percent from the three point line. YSU won the battle of the boards 41-32, and they had 21 assists as opposed to just 9 turnovers.
The Falcons had a pair of players in double figures. Eric Dummermuth had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Marcquice Taylo added 13 to go along with 5 assists. NDC shot 41 percent from the field for the game. They also shot 42 percent (8 of 19) from three point land. NDC improved dramatically from the opener at the foul line going 14 of 17 (82 percent). The Falcons had 11 assists to go along with 17 turnovers.
The Falcons will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Hiram. Tip time in that game is set for 3 PM.
