A Night To Forget.

The Notre Dame Falcons (10-18 5-11 AMC) have had some tough losses in the 2010-11 season but Tuesday's loss to Malone may have been the worst performance for the Falcons all season. The Falcons were held to a season low 45 points on this miserable night.

The Falcons made just six field goals in the first half to score just 15 points. Curtis McClure was the only Falcon to score in double figures as he scored 12 points. Eric Dummermuth added 9 points and 9 rebounds which is well under his average. Taylor Reiger and Phil Biggs added 7 points each.
NDC shot 33% from the floor and hit just 2 of 8 from three point land. The Falcons were 11-17 (65%) at the foul line. The Falcons had 22 turnovers to go along with 11 assists.
The Pioneers improved to 18-10 and 11-5 in the AMC. They had three players score in double figures on the evening. Eric Coblentz led the way with 13 points, Ebiowei Porbeni added 12, while Cory Veldhulzen had 10 for Malone. The Pioneers completed the season sweep of NDC by shooting a very solid 44 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free throw line. The Pioneers had 41 rebounds to just 34 for the Falcons. Malone shot 8-27 (29.6% ) from three point land. The Pioneers had 13 assists along with 13 turnovers.
Malone jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the game's opening six minutes. Malone would stretch out that lead to 13 (22-9) on a three by Coblentz with 7:26 in the half. Vic Pappas would hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 11, but then the Pioneers would run off the next three points punctuated by another Coblentz three. The Pioneers would take a 34-15 lead into the intermission.
NDC would cut the lead to 11 (41-30) on a Biggs three with 14:42 to go. That is as close as the Falcons would get as Malone would roll to the victory.
The Falcons will be back in action Thursday night with the regular season finale at Murphy Gym. NDC will take on Point Park and tip time is set for 7 PM.
