Going Out In Style!

Curtis McClure scored a career high 31 points on Senior night and the Notre Dame Falcons (11-18 6-11 AMC) got a 95-88 win over Point Park at Murphy Gym on Thursday night. Point Park fell to 14-11 and 8-9 on the season.

On a night when Eric Dummermuth scored 4 points on just 1 of 4 shooting the Falcons still managed to get a win. The Falcons had three players score in double figures. McClure had 31, Rodney Mickens poured in 30 and Taylor Reiger netted 16 for the home team. The Falcons shot 49 percent from the field and 37 percent from three point land. They were 79% from the foul line and had 16 assists along with 12 turnovers.
The Pioneers were led by Kris Douse with 23 points. Devon Alexander added 20, Jimmy Sherwood had 18 and Josh Troccio netted 12 for Point Park. The Pioneers shot 48% from the field and 32% from three point land. They struggled at the foul line shooting 67%. The Pioneers had 12 assists and 13 miscues. The rebounding battle was even at 37.
PPU jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first 4 and a half minutes. The Pioneers stretched the lead to 11 (29-18) on a Douse free throw with 10:13 to go in the opening half. The Falcons battled back in the next ten minutes and the game was knotted at 44 at halftime.
After some even basketball for about 8 minutes the Falcons opened up a 67-61 lead about midway through the second half. NDC would stretch the lead out to 9 (83-74) with 3:16 to go. The lead was cut to four a pair of times before McClure and Mickens sealed it for NDC on Senior Night.
NDC will close out the regular season Saturday as they will battle Cedarville on the road. The Falcons fell to the Yellow Jackets 82-80 in the first meeting. Tip time Saturday is set for 4 PM.
