Falcons stop mini skid.

The Notre Dame Falcons used a big first half to snap a two game losing skid and defeat the Eagles of Cincinnati Christian 97-79 at Murphy Gym on a snowy Wednesday night. The Falcons (3-5) got back on the winning track behind a 55 point first half. The Falcons tallied five players in double figures. Eric Dummermuth led the way with a 22 point and 16 rebound performance. Nathan Ensz also tallied a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Rodney Mickens was a perfect 6 for 6 from the floor on his way to a 18 point evening. Taylor Reiger netted 20, while Curis McClure chipped in 15 for NDC. The Falcons shot at a 57% clip for the ball game including a sizzling 65% in the first half outburst. NDC hit 7 of 14 from long range, but once again struggled at the free throw line going just 20-35(57%). The blue and white also had 25 miscues.

The Eagles (4-10) saw their losing streak hit four. CCU shot 38% from the field on the evening while hitting 11-35 from long range. The Eagles made good on 16-20 (80%) at the charity stripe. The Falcons won the battle on the glass 37-31. The Eagles also had 20 miscues. Corey Evans led all scorers with 31 points. The Eagles top point man only went 4 of 15 from long range though. Two other Eagles scored in double figures. Josh Reid netted 12 points while Mohamed Fall contributed 11.
The Falcons will be back in action Saturday night. The first round of the Mercyhurst tournament will pit the Falcons (3-5) against the Shock of Washington Adventist (0-7). Tip time is set for 6 PM.
