Tars Roll Past Tampa!!

Good teams in college basketball have to have short memories, and for the Rollins College Tars they were playing at the Bob Martinez Sports Center in Tampa which created a lot of those bad ones. On this day it would be the Nick and Myk show. Nick Wolf had 22 points and 10 rebounds while Myk Brown added 19 in the Tars 72-55 win over Tampa. It was only the Tars second win in 11 tries in downtown Tampa. The Tars shot 56 percent from the field including a red hot 64 percent in the second half. The Tars improved to 12-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Tampa fell to 8-6 and 3-3 in the SSC. The Spartans were led by Anthony Lebruno who had 18 points on 6 of 11 from three point land. Callum Townsend had 15 points including 4 triples, while Rashaad Calloway would score 12 points on just 2 of 11 from the floor. Calloway added 10 assists for the Spartans.
The Tars came out swinging in the first half. Four minutes into the ball game it would be 6-0 Rollins. Tampa would fight back and make it closer on a Lebruno 3. After a Marcus Morrison slam it would be 6-5 Tars. Nick Wolf would then heat up including 3 three's in a 16-2 run that would put the Tars up 22-7. Tampa would cut that lead to 31-22 at the intermission.
Tampa would get a 3 to cut the lead to six early in the second half but that is as close as the hosts would get. Rollins would go on a 16-3 run early in the second to open up a 61-37 lead that they would not relinquish. The Tars now stand alone a top the Sunshine State Conference after losses by both Lynn and Barry Saturday. The Tars will be back in action Wednesday with another road tilt at Florida tech. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM.
